AIDS Walk Michigan is a non-profit organization that began in 1998 to raise
awareness of HIV and AIDS and to raise money for local AIDS Service
Organizations in participating Michigan communities.
The Michigan AIDS Coalition was officially formed
February 1, 2009, when the Michigan AIDS Fund (MAF)
and the Midwest AIDS Prevention Project (MAPP)
completed a merger. The new mission is to “prevent
HIV/AIDS in Michigan by promoting healthy
lifestyles, providing and investing in
evidence-based, innovative programs and through
advocacy and education.”

MATEC's goal is to increase the number of health care professionals who provide
quality HIV care to underserved and vulnerable populations.

Michigan Protection and Advocacy Service, Inc. (MPAS) is a private,
non-profit organization designated by the Governor to protect and promote the
human and legal rights of people with disabilities in Michigan through the
provision of information and advocacy. In providing services, MPAS strives to
advance the dignity, equality, self-determination and expressed choices of
individuals.
The HIV/AIDS Advocacy Program (HAAP) provides legal advocacy services to
people living with HIV and AIDS in Michigan. Services include information and
referral, direct advocacy, legal representation, training and attorney referral
as well as publications and written materials to assist people with wills and
estate planning, housing rights, social security benefits and other legal rights
issues.

CARES Community AIDS Resource and
Education Services of Southwest Michigan
CARES provides both prevention and care services in Region 3 from its offices
in Kalamazoo.
The Detroit Community AIDS Library website is the gateway to the Internet for
metro Detroit. Through a partnership of libraries and community organizations,
DCAL provides onsite resources and Internet access for individuals affected by
HIV.
DCHC is committed to providing quality medical and dental services to all
regardless of their medical, social or economic circumstances. Their
services include, Adolescent Care, Adult Medicine, Ancillary, Dental, Emergency
Services, Family Planning, Geriatric Medicine, HIV/AIDS, OB/GYN, Pediatric and

HARC HIV/AIDS Resource Center
The HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC) is a private non-profit organization
founded in 1986 by a group of dedicated volunteers in order to provide HIV
services to the people of Washtenaw, Jackson, Livingston and Lenawee Counties.
HARC has grown steadily since 1986, evolving from a grassroots volunteer-based
organization to a prominent AIDS service organization.
Formerly HIV/AIDS Services, Inc. (HAS, Inc.) the agency was formed in April
of 1998 as a collaborative effort of local concerned citizens. The goal
was to address the unmet needs of persons affected by HIV/AIDS in West Michigan
without duplicating the services offered by existing agencies. They offer a
needle exchange/harm reduction program in downtown Grand Rapids.
This HIV/AIDS Support Group in the Detroit Metro area provides services
for "Healing the body, mind, and spirit."
LAAN Lansing Area AIDS
Network
Dedicated to the delivery of services and programs designed to meet the needs
of those living with HIV/AIDS and to prevent the further spread of the virus.
This site was designed as a one-stop resource for those living
with HIV & AIDS and the people who care for them. Because we recognize that
HIV can effect you in so many ways, we offer a multidisciplinary program that
addresses not only medical needs but psychosocial and nutritional needs as well.
Targeted Services
A community based, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the
well-being of seniors and of adults with mental illness or developmental
disabilities in Southeastern Michigan. Programs and services include, Mental
Health, Substance Abuse, Developmental Disability, Healthy Aging (HIV/AIDS
prevention and outreach) and Guardianship.
Affirmations is a center for LGBT activities through the community. Their
programs include Youth Services, Health Services, discussion and support
groups, social and recreational activities.
Alternatives For Girls (AFG) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization located
in southwest Detroit, Michigan, serving homeless and high-risk girls and young
women. Since 1987, AFG has provided critical services to program participants,
including safe shelter, educational support, vocational guidance, mentoring and
counseling. The goal is to empower girls and young women to make positive
choices. AFG helps them repair their lives, rescue their dreams and restore
their faith in the future.
CHAG Community Health Awareness
Group
CHAG is a non-profit, minority operated, community based organization serving
high-risk and HIV infected African
Americans throughout Metro Detroit by providing a variety of HIV
prevention, care, substance abuse and mental health services.

GAA Gospel Against AIDS
Gospel Against AIDS is a three component,
faith-based HIV/AIDS prevention educational program. They provide
communities of faith with AIDS 101 training, Technical Assistance for Prevention Outreach, Referral Service for
individuals infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. Their services
included; HIV/AIDS Prevention Education for African Women in Ministry, Senior Citizen Education, College/University Education, Youth
Training, Seminarian Trainings, Prevention Education for Incarcerated
Men, HIV/AIDS and Substance Abuse Training Manual for Communities of
Faith, Community/Shelter and Soup Kitchen Outreach and Missionary
Training, A Time for Healing Worship Service and Disciples of Care.
The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan (HFM) is
dedicated to improving the quality of life for
all those affected by hemophilia
and hereditary bleeding disorders and related complications including HIV
infection, through the support of individual, family and community services;
education; health care advocacy and research with the ultimate goal of finding a
cure.
The Horizons Project is a program of the
Adolescent Medicine division of Children's Hospital. Their Prevention Programs include, Outreach for
YMSM of Color, Brothers Saving Brothers, HIV Counseling Testing and
Referral for high risk youth, STI prevention for
HIV-positive youth, and
HIV and Substance Abuse prevention for youth.
The Ruth Ellis Center is the only youth
social service agency in the nation dedicated to helping
LGBT teens and young
adults who are experiencing homelessness. Some of their services
include a Drop In Center, Street Outreach, HIV counseling and testing, a
transitional living program and emergency shelter.
Sisters and Daughters of Sheba™ is an educational program promoting good
health and sounds minds while empowering, enlightening and enriching the lives
of women of color of all ages - currently available in the metro Detroit area.
Sisters and Daughters of Sheba™ is designed for those who desire a new and
healthier approach to male-female relationships. Whether you are a teen or a
senior, single or married, romantic and sexual relationships with significant
others may be difficult, frustrating and stressful. The guiding theme in program
activities is person-to-person and group-to-group communication around a central
African love theme: the story of Solomon and Sheba.
The Stitches Doll Project was conceptualized in
the summer of 1999. By Kathleen Gerus- Darbison and Candice Moench, both
Michigan AIDS Educators and community activists, created the project
to combine art and life in an interactive way to educate the public about the
impact of HIV/AIDS on women. Stitches provides a way to preserve the
stories of HIV positive women.
